Why New Years Resolutions are Pointless

Every New Year is the time of great changes, even though none of them actually happen. It is one of the rare times which are inflated with human optimism and the actual belief into a better tomorrow.

However, everything connected to this festive spirit is not long lasting. Namely, as soon as the clutches of your daily grind get the best of you once again, you forget all the plans you made for this year, along with the optimism which is somewhere far away, waiting for the next end of December to pop in again.

The same is with New Year's resolutions. People seem to be so hooked up on them, even though there is no chance that 99% of people will keep their promises made to themselves. Many who say that they will stop eating too much and will lose weight, forget what they said as soon as the holidays are over.

Moreover, they increase their weight since, in this time of the year, there is food everywhere and people tend to put on several pounds, paradoxically making promises of achieving quite the contrary. The same is with other New Year's resolutions.

This is because people are more connected to the date than to the feeling and the desire for a change. You need to want your resolutions to take place in a real life, regardless of the date. You can find a better job in May or lose weight in September, just do it.

You need to make an oath to yourself and muster all the strength, persistence and strong will you have, investing all these into the achievement of your goals. New Year is not important for this. However, the strength of your resolution is.
